GRAILCART

How much is a Charizard card worth?

A Charizard card can be worth a few dollars or several hundred thousand. Three things decide where yours lands: which card it is, what condition it is in, and whether it has been graded.

Which Charizard cards are the most valuable?

Charizard (Unlimited) · Base Set #4 (1999) Pokémon card
Charizard (Unlimited) · Base Set #4 (1999)

The original 1999 Base Set holo Charizard is the card that defined the hobby, and the 1st Edition print is the most valuable version. High-grade 1st Edition copies have sold for hundreds of thousands of dollars.

Other valuable Charizards include the Shadowless Base Set print, the Legendary Collection reverse holo, the e-series cards, the gold star Charizards from the ex era and Japanese promos. In modern sets, the chase cards are the special illustration rares, alternate arts and gold hyper rares.

Grading companies like PSA score a card from 1 to 10 for centering, corners, edges and surface, then seal it in a tamper-proof slab. The same card is often worth several times more in a PSA 10 than in a PSA 9, because far fewer copies reach a perfect grade.

Check the PSA population report for your card: the fewer 10s exist, the bigger the premium usually is.

How to price your Charizard

Find the exact card first: the set symbol and the card number at the bottom tell you which print you have. Then look at recent sold listings for that card in the same grade, not asking prices. Sold prices are what buyers actually paid.

Every card value on GrailCart comes from recent sales of that exact card and grade.
